Tommy Lee’s testimonial dinner, which started just a couple of hours after England’s win over Sweden, was deemed by all to be a great success.
With 230 diners packed into the SBK Computers Spires Restaurant, Spireites supporter Roland Gent started off the evening with some comedy whilst another supporter, Craig Boden, ended it with some great music, which got plenty of people dancing in the aisles.
In between times, auctions and raffles raised money for the ten-season keeper whilst representatives of the Ashgate Hospicecare Sparkle Night Walk popped in to tell us about their event that night. An auction, with the prize of Tommy Lee providing a personal training session for up to six youngsters, was offered to two bidders and £1,300 was raised for that wonderful cause.
Tales and testimonials galore from former team-mates Ritchie Humphreys, Phil Picken, Mark Allott, Gregor Robertson and Aaron Downes enthralled the adoring fans who all seem to be looking forward to the Tommy Lee testimonial match on Wednesday, July 25 (7pm kick-off).
That's when Martin Allen’s Chesterfield take on Paul Cook’s Wigan Athletic XI. Tickets are on sale via the Club Superstore and club website.
Don’t miss out on the match - the only home pre-season fixture of the summer.
