A Chesterfield FC Golf Day will be staged this summer to raise funds for the club’s academy and the Community Trust.
Taking place on Thursday, July 5 at South Chesterfield Golf Club in Grassmoor, the event will give fans the opportunity to mix with some Spireites legends who will play and hand out prizes afterwards.
Academy manager Mark Smith said: “The academy has produced a number of senior players in recent years, including current first-teamers Joe Rowley and Laurence Maguire. In order to keep progressing as an academy, we need to raise funds to help cover the running costs, so I hope that fans who play golf will support this event.”
Community Trust chief John Croot added: “We are always looking at ways of raising funds to support the work we do in the community and it made sense to join forces with the academy to organise this golf day, which will hopefully become an annual event."
The cost of entering a team of four is £200, or £180 if booked by the end of February. The entry fee includes a bacon sandwich and tea/coffee from 11am and pie, chips and peas at the end of the afternoon. There are prizes for the top three teams, together with Nearest the Pin and Straightest Drive prizes!
