It was a busy transfer deadline day at the Proact Stadium as Chesterfield signed four players, loaned one out, ended two loans and cancelled a player’s contract.
Experienced striker Louis Dodds was signed on an 18-month contract from Shrewsbury Town. Manager Jack Lester further added to his attacking options with the capture of teenager Jacob Brown on loan from Barnsley.
Winger Dylan Mottley-Henry (20) also joined the Spireites on loan from Barnsley and left-back George Smith (21) was signed from Northampton Town, penning a deal until the summer of 2019.
Defender Scott Wiseman was allowed to move out on loan to Rochdale until the end of the season.
Loanees Diego De Girolamo and Jordan Flores returned to Bristol City and Wigan Athletic respectively while an agreement was reached with Connor Dimaio to cancel his contract.
Director & company secretary Ashley Carson was pleased with the day’s business. He said: “We have brought in players identified by Jack Lester and his coaching staff as being of the necessary quality to significantly strengthen the squad.
“Furthermore, we turned down a substantial offer for Kristian Dennis and we have reached an agreement with an experienced midfielder who is a free agent. He will join us on a contract until the end of the season.
“The signings would not have been possible without the support of the owner of the club, Dave Allen, so our thanks go to him for his backing.”
