The youth team returned to winning ways in emphatic style on Saturday, beating Lincoln City 7-2, in a match which saw striker Robbie Foster grab a first half hat trick.

Top goal scorer Luke Rawson took his tally to 19 for the campaign with a second half brace, while further strikes from Levi Amantchi and Will Russ sealed the win for the Spireites.

With Miguel Llera assisting Ian Evatt with the first team, Mark Smith took charge of the team, and he saw his side get off to the best possible start, when after a good passing move down the right flank, Foster volleyed in Ify Ofoegbu’s cross at the far post.

Ofoegbu turned provider again, when after an Imps corner, he travelled the length of the pitch, before squaring the ball inside the area to the unmarked Foster, who made no mistake from close range.

Foster then completed his hat trick, when Rawson latched on to Dylan Hand’s pass and advanced down the left flank, his cross once again found Foster free inside the area, who volleyed past the goalkeeper.

The hosts pulled a goal back early in the second half, before Rawson got in on the act, benefiting from some high pressing by his team mates, before firing an effort into the top corner from the edge of the 18-yard box.

Amantchi made it five, when he got onto the end of Rawson’s cross from the right flank, the striker then took a touch before firing past the goalkeeper.

Rawson got his second of the game not long afterwards, capitalising on some poor defending before slotting past the goalkeeper. The Imps then pulled another goal back, before Wales U16 international Russ completed the scoring with a well taken goal in the closing stages.

The youth team are next in action on Saturday, when they take on Scunthorpe United at St George’s Park, Sheffield Graves, 11am.
