Chesterfield caretaker manager Guy Branston spoke to the media yesterday ahead of tonight's match with Yeovil Town. Here is some of what he had to say.....

On new manager search: “I spoke with Ashley Carson and the chairman after the Luton game.
“It’s now time to start narrowing the list down and start meeting these people, it won’t be knee-jerk, it’ll be done in the correct sort of way. It has got to be planned and executed with the benefit of turning the club around and when I say club I mean the football department because I think the club is starting to turn things around behind the scenes.

“The names on the list are there for a reason, they want the job. For me a name is a name, you have to see what’s right for the football club, it’s not for me to decide that it’s for the football club to decide.

“I can only give my opinion; I’m not going to push anyone because it would be pointless to do that in my position.”

On Luton Town match: “After the game I was quite high with the performance levels of some of the lads, though not all of them. I had a group of lads in that dressing room who were absolutely having a go for me.

“There was no doubt that people watching that game saw a performance, but there were other elements which could have gone wrong pretty early.

“It was evident that things need working on, but I haven’t got a lot of time with them, I have to keep their legs and I’ve walked through things today with them.

“Confidence is low, but the enthusiasm I’ve seen from the lads shows that there is more in them, let’s keep that enthusiasm and that positivity going.”

On Luton selection: “I wanted to get the best out of Chris O’Grady and the three I played behind him.

“The biggest problem I had with that was I had to go to Luton a team that are flying and be as solid as I can and not play players out of position. And for that formation on Saturday I think that they were the best lads to play in those slots.”

On playing style: “Fans want to win, I want to win, I’m not promising a style of play that will be easy on the eye, I’m promising a hustle-bustle tempo that Yeovil will not want to play against.”
