After two short away trips the Spireites return to the Proact tomorrow, when they take on Morecambe in a Sky Bet League Two fixture, here's our match preview..........
Supporters should be aware that Tesco Extra, adjacent to the Proact Stadium, will be enforcing a two-hour match day parking restriction.
Tickets are available for Spireites supporters at the Proact ticket office right up until kick off, 3pm.
A full list of prices and availability can be found here.
Spireites boss Jack Lester will be able to call upon the services of Connor Dimaio, after the midfielder missed the Spireites’ last two matches due to being on international duty with the Republic of Ireland U21s.
Tommy Lee will once again miss out, though Sam Hird will be assessed after he returned to training on Thursday following a groin injury. Striker Gozie Ugwu however misses out with a thigh injury.
Morecambe will be without the services of midfielder Kevin Ellison following his sending off in the 1-0 defeat to Crawley Town last weekend.
The Shrimps will also check on the fitness of Garry Thompson and Adam McGurk, with both missing out in recent weeks due to injury.
Manager – Jim Bentley
After nine years in the red shirt of the Shrimps, Jim Bentley was appointed player-manager in May 2011, after previously spending a season coaching the club’s reserves.
Bentley guided Morecambe to 15th in his debut season and has since established the club in Sky Bet League Two.
Under his stewardship, Bentley has overseen 325 matches and is one win away from his 100th as a manager.
Bentley along with his assistant Ken McKenna signed contract extensions until 2020, making him the third longest serving manager in England.
One to watch – Michael Rose
Experienced defender Michael Rose, joined the Shrimps in July 2016 after leaving Rochdale.
Rose made 50 appearances in all competition last season, scoring seven goals, so far, this campaign he’s made 12 appearances and scored in the Carabao Cup match with Barnsley.
Since starting out with Manchester United at youth level, Rose has gone on to have spells with the likes of Yeovil Town, Stockport County, Norwich City and Colchester United.
Head to Head
Tomorrow’s meeting is the 14th between the two sides, with the Shrimps having had the better of the previous encounters: -
Chesterfield – 2 (wins)
Draws – 6
Morecambe – 5 (win)
The Spireites did however, win the last meeting between the two sides, when a Jay O’Shea header secured a 1-0 win at the Proact on March 25, 2014.
From the dugout
Lester has been grateful for having his players for a full week and he says that the training ground has a real buzz about the place.
He knows however that the Spireites players will need to take that into their match with the Shrimps tomorrow, as they bid to climb up the League Two table.
He said: “Morecambe will be a tough game, they’re a good side and I’ve watched bits of what they are about which I’ll be showing the players.
“But we are concentrating on ourselves and having a really positive performance.”
