Jack Lester spoke to the media earlier today, ahead of the match with Morecambe on Saturday, here's some of what he had to say.........
On having the players for a full week: “It’s been fantastic and it’s nice to get a full week with them on the training ground. It’s been positive, the training ground has had a good buzz to it and it’s been great.
“I can show them the intensity that I want to work at, whereas before I’ve been mindful because we’ve had a game that’s one or two days away, so we’ve not had a proper training session as I like to call it.”
On new strength and conditioning coach Jake Simpson: “He came in for a chat last week, he was a player previously, he played for Workington last season and was at Carlisle before that.
“He’s young, really keen and has got a great attitude – he’ll be someone the players buy into straight away because of his passion for the role.”
On Lincoln City defeat: “I think physically we lost that battle to them, they have a strong athletic programme and that’s something we’ll be doing ourselves.
“When we play them here in the second half of the season it’ll be a different game, fair play to Lincoln they dealt with us on the day but that’s not a reflection of how we’ll be playing in the future.”
On Chris O'Grady: “I’ve been in those situations and it’s not easy, he’ll get out of it by working hard. As a player, if you give everything for the team fans are ok with that.
“He’ll need help, a little bit of support from the fans, but once he gets one or two he’ll be away. He’s showing signs, the sharper he is the better he’ll be.”
On team news: “Tommy Lee is waiting for his leg to heal, he didn’t need an operation but he won’t train for a week or so.
“Sam Hird did a passing drill today and will hopefully join in full contact training tomorrow (Friday).
“Jerome Binnom-Williams is progressing really nicely, he’ll be four-six weeks, there are barriers that he has to break down, but if he gets into contact and that goes quite quick and he changes then might be as quick as four weeks.”
On Morecambe: "Morecambe will be a tough game, they’re a good side and I’ve watched bits of what they are about which I’ll be showing the players tomorrow.
“But we are concentrating on ourselves and having a really positive performance.”
