Chesterfield made it seven points from the last nine available after they drew 2-2 with local rivals Mansfield Town this afternoon
Joe Rowley opened the scoring for the visitors before Hayden White's equaliser. Andy Kellett put Chesterfield back in front in the second half but Zander Diamond rescued a point for the Stags late on.
Mansfield enjoyed the majority of the possession early on, creating chances but failing to open the scoring. Rhys Bennett hooked over from close range in the opening minutes before two Jacob Mellis chances went begging.
He first fired straight at Joe Anyon before driving his next effort wide. Omari Sterling-James meanwhile also saw a shot miss the target for the Stags.
Despite the hosts' early pressure it was the Spireites who took the lead through Rowley on 14 minutes. Kellett laid the ball off to him and the wide man did the rest, curling the ball home left footed.
It didn't take long for Mansfield to find an equaliser though as they scored just twelve minutes later.
Chesterfield lost the ball in midfield and their opponents seized on possession. The ball was played through into the path of White who fired home to make it 1-1.
There was meanwhile a late chance for the Spireites at the back end of the first half, with Kellett firing wide but Jack Lester's side were probably relieved to go into the break all square.
Chesterfield came out firing in the second half though and they were soon back in front. Kristian Dennis, usually the man scoring the goals, turned supplier and picked out Kellett in the box who was able to head home just before the hour mark.
It was what the Spireites deserved for a thoroughly impressive start to the second half.
Before that Dennis had rifled a shot against the bar with a brilliant effort, before Louis Reed's driven shot from the edge of the box was denied by Conrad Logan in the Mansfield goal.
Lester's men continued to push for more, and almost added a third through Dennis who tested Logan again, before Jerome Binnom-Williams' free header from a corner was straight at the goalkeeper.
Chesterfield had dominated the second half but they were punished for not finding a third goal as Mansfield equalised again with just two minutes remaining.
A cross from the right looped into the area and found Stags skipper Diamond who was able to head past Anyon to make things level.
Mansfield had a half chance to then win the game in injury time. Substitute Alfie Potter got into the box and was able to fashion a chance for himself but he skewed it over the bar as things finished all square.
