New Spireites signing Scott Wiseman explained that his move to the Proact had much to do with the influence of manager Gary Caldwell.
Caldwell had spoken to the Gibraltar international following his release from Scunthorpe United and Wiseman was impressed with what he had to say.
“I’ve been in regular contact with the club for a couple of weeks now and it’s fantastic to get it over the line,” he told Player HD.
“First and foremost he told me about where he sees the club going, what he wants from me as an individual and what he expects from the team for next season.
“I’ve had a lot of good recommendations of him and when I’ve done my research into the club as well, I’ve played here a few times and I know where it’s going and what it wants to be, it’s a very exciting time.”
Wiseman is an experienced professional, having played for the likes of Preston North End and Rochdale.
During his career he’s come up against Chesterfield on numerous occasions and he’s now glad that he’ll be playing for and not against us.
He said: “I know that it’s a tough place to come and that the fans get on top of you, hopefully the fans will take to me, it’ll be good to get started.
“Having walked around with Guy Branston this morning he’s really gone through the whole club with me it’s really exciting and it’s a fantastic stadium.”
Capable of playing in numerous positions, Wiseman is keen to get started with his new team mates during pre-season.
He comes to Derbyshire with a good pedigree having achieved promotion with both ‘Dale and the Lillywhites and he now he wants to do the same with the Spireites.
Wiseman added: “I know that the manager wants to get a head start and hit the ground running when the new season comes around.
“I wouldn’t be coming here if I knew that it was a mediocre / middle of the road team, we can bounce straight back and I want another promotion on my CV!”
