Three players have signed for Chesterfield today with Jerome Binnom-Williams, Jordan Sinnott and Delial Brewster all putting pen to paper.
Binnom-Williams arrives at the Proact after having his contract cancelled at Peterborough United by mutual consent. The 22-year-old defender has been earmarked to play at left wing-back.
Commenting on the deal, Spireites manager Gary Caldwell said: “He’s a big strong player, who’ll work up and down the left-hand side.”
Binnom-Williams said: “I’m pleased to be here. When I heard that they were coming for me in the off-season, I knew that I couldn’t say no and not take the chance to come to Chesterfield.”
Midfielder Sinnott (23), who arrives from Halifax Town, said: “I knew from the first time that I spoke to the manager that I wanted to sign for him. I’m absolutely delighted to get it over the line and sign, now I’m looking forward to getting started on Monday.”
Sinnott dropped out of the Football League after starting his career at Huddersfield Town and Caldwell is confident that he has the ability to make the step up.
“I watched him twice at the end of last season and in both games he produced the best moments with quality passing,” said the Spireites boss. “He’s played at a higher level and he’s eager to take the opportunity to play league football again.”
Brewster, who is a 19-year-old striker, was a free agent after being released by Everton. After joining the Spireites, he said: “Once I found out Chesterfield were interested, I was keen to come here and I’m raring to go!”
Caldwell believes that Brewster will have benefited from playing on loan at Southport after featuring for Everton’s U23 side. “He’s played men’s football so he knows what it takes," said the Scot. "He’s quick and scores goals and I believe he’s someone with a lot of potential."
Further moves are planned in the transfer market as Caldwell continues his squad rebuilding plans. He said: “We’ve been busy for the past few weeks, trying to bring these players in and others.
“The support I’ve received from the board has been fantastic and we’re actively pursuing other targets. I can’t wait to start working with all the players.”
All three players have been signed on two-year contracts.
