New Spireites signing Jordan Sinnott has targeted another promotion after joining the club on a two-year deal from FC Halifax Town.
Sinnott was part of the Halifax squad that achieved promotion to the National League last season and he wants to taste success once again.
“We had a great season last year both as a team and for me personally in getting promoted and that’s what I’ve come here to do, I want to push on and get promoted out of this league as well,” he told iFollow.
The former Bury and Altrincham man has been watched by the Spireites management team for a number of weeks, though he wasn’t too aware of the move himself.
He said: “I’m absolutely delighted to get it over the line and sign now I’m looking forward to getting started on Monday.
“You hear rumours, my family and my friends have been texting me telling me that I’m going to sign for Chesterfield, and asking me ‘do I know anything?’ - I had to tell them that they knew as much as me!
“But to finally get it sorted and to be stood in the ground now, it’s a great platform for us to build on, so hopefully we can have a good season.”
Manager Gary Caldwell is a big admirer of the midfielder and Sinnott says that he was a huge influence in his decision.
He added: “I spoke to the manager today when I first got here and a bit before as well and I knew that I wanted to sign for him.
“He wants to put his stamp on it in pre-season and let’s see where that takes us.
“Guy Branston has been a big influence as well so I’m really happy to be here.”
Sinnott scored nine goals in 41 appearances for the Shaymen last season and he’s set his sights on showcasing that ability in League Two.
He said: “I hope so! That’s what I’ll be aiming for anyway.
“I also like to get the ball down, pass it around, create attacks and score the odd goal myself.”
