Director & company secretary Ashley Carson says that a lot of hard work is being done behind the scenes to further strengthen the squad with one major transfer target currently thinking over an offer.
Gozie Ugwu, Scott Wiseman, Bradley Barry and Joe Anyon have already been recruited since the end of the season and a number of other players are on Gary Caldwell’s radar.
Carson said: “We have made an offer to a highly experienced player who has played at a high level. If he accepts the offer, it would represent a substantial investment in the squad.
“We are also waiting to announce the loan signing of a player who is currently involved in an international tournament. The deal has been agreed, but due to the agreement in place with his parent club, we are unable to make that announcement until he returns home.
“We feel that we have made some excellent signings so far and we want to bring in other players of a similar quality. I am fully aware of concerns amongst the fans but can assure them that we will not be leaving things to the last minute and having to build a team around loan players. We are determined to assemble a squad capable of challenging for promotion.”
Meanwhile, Carson has confirmed that with the inclusion of tickets sold to hospitality lounge members, around 3,000 season tickets have been sold so far. He said: “I am very pleased to have reached the 3,000-mark following the disappointment of relegation and I hope that by extending the discounted offer until the end of July, many more fans will buy season tickets.
“I’d like to once again offer my sincere thanks to those fans who have already purchased season tickets. To those who haven’t yet done so, I’d urge them to consider the significant savings that are made over the course of the season by having a season ticket."
Season ticket holders will be able to attend a Q&A session with Gary Caldwell and other key figures at the club just before the start of the season. The details will be announced shortly.
