Spireites loanee Louis Reed was left pleased, after a 4-0 win at home against Doncaster Rovers in their final pre-season game.
Goals from Kristian Dennis, Delial Brewster, Gozie Ugwu (which Reed assisted) and Reece Mitchell gave Chesterfield a comfortable victory and Reed was happy with his team’s ability to bounce back from friendly defeats against Stoke City U23s and Rotherham United.
Speaking exclusively to iFollow, he said: “I think the last couple of games we haven’t been at it, but we found what was missing today.
“We scored four great goals and played some great team football, so the dressing room is delighted.”
The 20-year old played in midfield alongside trialist Robbie Weir and Jordan Sinnott and while acknowledging that all three played well, Reed was quick to suggest the win was down to a team effort.
“It’s the first time I’ve played with Robbie and I think we gelled quite well,” he commented.
“But I don’t think it was about just us three, the way we worked the opposition, we pressed them and chased things down it was a great all round performance.”
Reed joined the club on-loan from Sheffield United earlier this month and he’s endured a busy pre-season, but he thanked his new team mates for the help he’s received in settling into the dressing room.
He explained: “I think I have settled in quite well, having known a few of the boys has helped. The ones I didn’t know have welcomed me, it’s going really well.”
So with a first Spireites pre-season under his belt, what is the England Under 20 international looking to achieve during his time at the Proact?
“I just want to play in as many games as possible really,” he added.
“Obviously we want to be up there battling for promotion and if we play like we played today that’ll be the case.”
