Spireites striker Gozie Ugwu, hailed another good team performance after the 4-0 win away at Matlock Town.
Ugwu’s first half brace along with further strikes from Reece Mitchell and Ricky German made it two wins from two pre-season matches so far and the former Woking man was pleased with his team’s display.
Speaking exclusively to iFollow, Ugwu said: “I’m delighted to get off the mark but, most importantly, I’ve got minutes under my belt.
“It was another great team performance and we’re moving in the right direction, which is good!”
Ugwu lined up alongside fellow new signing Delial Brewster at the DCJ Group Insurance Arena, after playing with Kristian Dennis in Tuesday’s friendly at Sheffield FC and both partnerships have showed signs of promise for the new season.
He said: “We’ve been working with different strikers in training, we’ve all been playing together and we’re starting to know each other’s styles.
“It’s only the second pre-season game and there’s still a lot to learn but I’m really enjoying it.”
The striker joined the club on a free transfer in May and has settled in very well with his new team mates at the Proact.
“Everyone has made me feel really welcome, I’m enjoying the pre-season, we’re working hard every day on different things like formations and teamwork,” he added.
“I’m just really enjoying being part of a team at the moment."
Ugwu will return to action at Buxton this evening, as the Spireites compete for the G F Tomlinson Cup (7.30pm), in what will be the final friendly before the squad jets off to Spain for a week-long training camp on Sunday.
“We have a fairly new squad so going away together will help us gel together and build cohesion,” said Ugwu.
“After getting to know each other more, we will come back better as a team.”
