New signing, Chris O’Grady, says that despite the tough nature of his first training session with the club, it was a session that he was glad to be a part of.
The Spireites’ latest acquisition took part in the warm up and running drills with his new team mates yesterday, before working on an individual programme with fitness and conditioning coach Gareth Piper.
“It’s been a while since I put my boots on and although it was running I’ve really enjoyed it,” O’Grady told iFollow.
“You give everything, that’s just what you do, your aim is to get your body up to speed and the quicker you can do that the better so you can start getting balls out and playing matches.
O’Grady will not be featuring in tonight’s game with Sheffield FC, but manager Gary Caldwell hopes to have him integrated with the squad in time for their training camp in Spain and Portugal next week.
As well as stepping up his fitness levels the trip to the continent will also give O’Grady a chance to familiarise himself with the first team squad.
O’Grady was familiar with the likes of fellow new signing Scott Wiseman as well as assistant manager Steve Eyre prior to training and he says that he’s settling in well with the rest of the group.
The striker added: “I’m more ready mentally than physically to put a blue shirt on, but with a few more sessions I should be completely ready.
“My first impressions of the team are really good – it’s a group I really hope I can fit into and I can’t wait to get started so we can succeed together.”
