Manager Gary Caldwell says that he is hoping to add more new faces to his squad in the near future.
Striker Chris O'Grady became Chesterfield's eighth pre-season signing when he penned a two-year contract on Thursday and work is being done to further strengthen the playing staff.
Caldwell said: “The other transfer targets are progressing, with some further down the road than others.
“We are going to keep looking for players to improve our squad until the window shuts."
Caldwell has assured fans that there has been plenty of activity behind the scenes on the recruitment front, despite a lull in signings before the capture of O'Grady.
“Whilst between Chris and our last signing there was a couple of weeks or so, we have been working hard in the background to make more signings and when these happen they will be announced to the fans," said the Spireites boss.
“We want to give the fans a team that they are proud of coming to watch every week."
