Jay O’Shea has completed his move to Sheffield United on a loan deal until the end of the season.

Director of football Chris Turner thanked the player for his services, saying: “Jay has been a great player for the club, making a valuable contribution and we wish him all the best for the future.

“He would have been out of contract at the end of the season and he made it clear that he wanted to join Sheffield United. Jay’s departure will provide manager Gary Caldwell with some freedom to move in the transfer market."

O’Shea, 28, scored 40 goals in 197 appearances after signing from MK Dons in January 2013 following a spell on loan.

He scored both goals in the 2-0 win at Burton Albion in April 2014 to seal promotion from League Two for the Spireites, who went on to clinch the title.
