Congratulations to Spireites defender Ian Evatt, who has won the Pinders of Sheffield player of the month award for January.
It was a close call, but we can confirm that Evatt polled 46% of the supporter votes on our twitter feed, holding off the challenge of Dan Gardner (42%) and goalkeeper Ryan Fulton.
He said: “I’m pleased, it’s a nice thing to get individual awards, and I do feel like I’ve been playing consistently well, but it’s a team game and I want the team to start doing better and that’s my aim at the minute.
"We were conceding too many goals earlier in the season, so it’s something we’ve had to look at and rectify, we’re starting to do that now and if we start scoring goals at the other end I’m sure we’ll start to fly up the league.”
And with a winning margin of four percent will Evatt be holding the bragging rights in the changing room?
"Dan’s come back in for the last couple of games and done really well, I’m pleased for him as he’s had to wait for his chance," the defender added.
"He’s a fantastic footballer and hopefully now he can kick on and show everybody what he can do because he’s a very good player.
“But there’ll be no bragging rights, we’ve got to concentrate on Saturday, it’s a big game and we’ve got a big month coming up and hopefully we can go into Saturday and get the result we need."
