Scott Wiseman admitted after yesterday's 4-1 defeat at Newport County that he and his team-mates let everyone down with their performance.
"The lads are disgusted with themselves, truth be told," said Wiseman.
"We’ve let ourselves down, we’ve let the fans down in the second half and we’ve let the manager down.
“He gives us a platform to go out and express ourselves, like we did in the first half, when we dominated the game and controlled it.
"We probably should have come in more than one-nil up. To go out there in the second half and capitulate like we did needs to be addressed.”
Former West Ham United player Frank Nouble scored a second-half hat-trick which left the Spireites reeling. “The wonder strike rom Frank came as a bit of a shock and sent the lads for six,” Wiseman admitted.
“There’s enough experienced lads in there to know we shouldn’t rest on our laurels at half time. Half-time clean sheet, one-nil up is half a job. You don’t win anything in football when you do half a job and that’s what we’ve done today, half a job.”
The Spireites host Bradford City on Tuesday night in the Checkatrade Trophy and Wiseman stresses the need for a positive reaction. He said: “We’ve got to pull ourselves together and man up a little bit as well.
"We’ve all got to go out and show on Tuesday and show that we can really play.”
