Charlie Wakefield opened the scoring for Chesterfield in their friendly at Sandy Lane, Worksop, but Handsworth Parramore soon levelled.

Further Spireites goals came from Conor Dimaio, Reece Mitchell, Ricky German and Conor Fowler as Gary Caldwell's side ran out 5-1 winners.

A strong Chesterfield XI consisting of all of the subs' bench from the Notts County game visited Sandy Lane to take on a Handsworth Parramore side that has won its opening two fixtures in the NCEL Premier plus a 5-0 away win in the FA Cup at Widnes.

The game was slow to come to life as Spireites dominated the early possession but Delial Brewster, Jak McCourt and MItchell all missed the target from decent openings.

Wakefield broke the deadlock on 29 with a low angled left sided shot following great work from Brewster. Tommy Lee had been uninvolved in the opening half-hour but he was beaten on 31 when Alec Denton latched on to a straight ball through the middle to level it up.

Parramore goalkeeper, Jim Pollard, saved at the feet of Paul McGinn just before Lee had to palm away a snap shot from Jon Froggatt.

Academy scholar, Fowler controlled the ball well to allow Dimaio to fire home a box-edge curler on 38 and Mitchell opened up a two goal lead three minutes later, rounding the ‘keeper following a McCourt pass.

The second half began as did the first with the Spireites in charge but not managing to hit the target. McCourt, McGinn, Dimaio and Mitchell struck shots before German's deflected shot from McGinn's cross made it 4-1 in the 62nd minute.

Following the goal, Brewster, Wakefield and Dimaio were replaced by Levi Amantchi, Iffy Ofoegbu and Jack Brownell and the giant Amantchi headed just over immediately after his introduction.

McCourt and Mitchell then made way for Joel Phillips and Mark McKenna and, on 76, Spireites extended their lead when Fowler received a corner 25 yards out and he hammered home a crackerjack.

Pollard made fine saves to deny German and Amantchi and Brownell hit just over from range before German went close again, pulling an effort just wide as a younger visiting side sought to continue the scoring, but the game ended 5-1 and achieved the objective of getting extra mileage into the legs of those that didn't start at Meadow Lane.
