A dejected Connor Dimaio asserted that the Spireites must become more consistent if they are to salvage anything from this season.
The midfielder featured in the Spireites disappointing 0-4 loss to Southend United admitted that his side’s recent mini-revival now means little.
“The performance in the first half wasn’t good enough,” Dimaio stated. “We came out and battled but it just wasn’t good enough all round.”
“I don’t know what was different, it has been an issue all season, we haven't been consistent enough, not a single one of us and that is what we need to get into our games in the future, consistency.”
The Chesterfield-born midfielder sympathised with supporters and stated that the team remain fully committed to turning their fortunes around.
The 21-year-old continued: “We go out to win every game and we have all felt the fans disappointment this season and we need to put it right.
“We just need to go and battle and get something from the next game and just move on from there.”
The Spireites travel to Scunthorpe United on Monday desperate to put the disappointment of Friday’s loss behind them and Dimaio called on his teammates to put things right.
He added: “We will just go there and look at their team and their game plan and hopefully we will set out better than we did today.
“Our consistency is just not good enough as a team, we put everything into it but it is just the consistency and the performances week-in-week-out.”
