The Spireites' official Twitter feed has broken the 50,000 followers mark today, and we'd like to say a big thank you to each and every one of our followers.

Found at @ChesterfieldFC, the official Twitter page is the fastest place to find out the breaking news from the club; be it transfers, goals or if you're not a follower yet, why not?

So where do the Spireites and their 50,000 followers line-up in the race for Twitter followers?

Let's start off in Sky Bet League 1, where the Spireites fare very well, behind league-leaders Sheffield United (115,000) but well ahead of the likes of Scunthorpe United (35,200), Oldham Athletic (32,200) and Shrewsbury Town (39,500), and not too far behind Bradford City (59,100) and MK Dons (60,300).

The Spireites are also ahead of some Championship sides, including South Yorkshire neighbours Rotherham United (47,900) and Burton Albion (46,200).

Perhaps most importantly, Chesterfield are well ahead of Mansfield Town (28,300).

In footballing terms, the Spireites have some catching up to do, with Manchester United (8.6 million) and FC Barcelona (18.4 million) not threatened by the pride of North Derbyshire just yet.

And top of the Twitter pops? Justin Bieber's doing okay with 87.1 million followers but Katy Perry very much leads the social media way with a whopping 92.2 million followers.

Thanks once again for all your support online, now here's to reaching 100k!
