The Spireites youth team pick up their campaign with an away game at Oldham Athletic on Saturday after their 2-2 Scunthorpe United draw last Friday.

The game kicks-off in Oldham (OL8 4QL) at 11am and academy manager Mark Smith isn't expecting an easy encounter.

"We're at Oldham so we're expecting a tough game," he said. "We did the double over them last season, winning 2-0 and  5-4 - last season we always looked to score more than the opposition.

"We've changed that now, we're not as fragile as we were last year and hopefully we'll go there and the players will take the opportunity to show what they can do.

"We've tended to have good domination of games but not always scored enough goals, especially with Ricky German now with the first team.

"That's what we're here for though, we'll forsake results if we're producing players, and it looks like we're producing a few players at the moment, so we'll put up with that."
