Teenage striker Ricky German has been handed his first professional contract after making the first-team breakthrough. The 17-year-old, who is a product of the club's academy, has signed a two-and-a-half-year deal.
German is delighted to have made the step-up to the senior ranks. He said: "I'm grateful for the opportunity. Hard work brings its rewards and now it is time to kick on. There are a lot of very good players at the club so I'm hoping to learn from them and improve my game."
Spireites manager Danny Wilson said: "The signing of Ricky is a further statement from the club about the progress being made by the academy. A number of youngsters who have come through the academy have appeared in the first team this season. It is great for the club and the academy to see the progress being made on that front and we hope to see other youngsters coming through."
German made his debut as a substitute in the 3-1 victory over Northampton Town in mid-September. He also appeared in the games against Bradford City and Accrington Stanley earlier this month.
