Jack Lester returned to the Proact Stadium last week as a sold-out crowd at the DCJ Group Spires Restaurant gathered for the Spireites legend's All-Star Event. The former Chesterfield captain recounted stories from his time at both Saltergate and the Proact and enjoyed the reunion with his adoring fans.
He said: "It's always great to come back here and I always appreciate the warm welcome I'm given. The club holds such a special place in my heart so I was so glad to be able to come back and speak.
"Now I hope the Spireites can start picking up some wins and have a positive season."
Lester was joined on the evening by comedy performer Ian D Montford, as well as Richard Cotterill - the man behind the Badly Drawn Spireites project, with Lester's own portrait revealed for the first time on the night and fetching a massive £210 for Dementia UK in an auction.
The rest of the money raised throughout the evening was in aid of the club's official charity parter for this season, the Child Foundation.
Nick Johnson introduced the event: "I think all the fans loved hearing from Jack over the evening, he's such a hero around here and you could feel that as soon as everyone arrived in the room.
"The food was great, the comedy excellent and Jack didn't let the fans down, just as when he was a player. To raise so much money for such worthy charities only made the evening better, it was a great night."
