After a hectic week punctuated by Dave Allen stepping down as chairman and director of the club, manager Danny Wilson has given his version of the unexpected events.
At the club's AGM on Monday evening, Allen shocked the gathered shareholders with his announcement, and Wilson - also on the table with the club directors - admitted he too was not expecting it.
"It was a bolt out of the blue as we sat there," he explained. "We didn't expect that whatsoever. We were all prepared for the shareholders' meeting and then the chairman came out with the statement that he did.
"I've not been involved in any discussions since then, that's something the board have to deal with themselves. That side of the club doesn't involve me, I'm told what to do as an employee just like everybody else.
"They'll have to come to some sort of agreement or arrangement and when they have done that we'll find out what it is. At this moment in time we've got to carry on as best we can and prepare for the games coming up."
However, Wilson remains positive on the future of the Spireites, and that major shareholder Allen will do what's best for the club.
"There is an uncertainty," said the manager. "That will always arrive when there's no-one at the helm. I'm sure he'll do whatever's best for the club - that's the one thing Dave's always done.
"A lot of people have had an opinion on him, good or bad, but what he has done is make sure that all the money he's put into the club has been for the good of it and I'm sure from his point of view he'll want that to continue."
