Long-serving director Mike Warner has been named as the club's new chairman following the resignation of Dave Allen earlier in the week.Warner first joined the board in 1993 and - apart from a six-month spell during Darren Brown's ill-fated tenure - has been part of the club hierarchy ever since. Following Brown's departure, Warner played an instrumental role in saving the club in 2001, paying off a six-figure loan and working with the Chesterfield Football Supporters Society (CFSS) to steady the ship.
Warner has appealed for unity following the boardroom upheaval which saw David Jones, Philip Taylor, Chris Breeze and Alan Goodall all resign as directors on Friday afternoon. He said: "I see my role as bringing everyone together. It is important that everyone gets behind the club as we seek to find a solution to our current problems."
Ashley Carson and John Croot are the other remaining directors.
