Premier Pitches Ltd, who took over the maintenance of the pitch at the Proact in the summer, have won a top industry award.
The local company, based at Nether Handley, was named STIHL Contractor of the Year at the Institute of Groundsmanship (IOG) Industry Awards at the National Conference Centre.
The annual event was attended by more than 640 leading groundcare experts from the UK and Europe, as well as dignitaries from the governing bodies of sport and influential sports administrators.
Spireites chief executive Chris Turner congratulated Premier Pitches on their award, adding: “We awarded the contract for the maintenance of the pitch to Premier Pitches, knowing that our playing surface was in safe hands and this award endorses that view.
“This season’s pitch is the best one we have seen at the stadium. Premier Pitches were also responsible for producing an award-winning pitch during our first season at the Proact and we are delighted to be working with them.”
Premier Pitches work at all levels of the game - from iconic stadia such as Wembley, BT Murrayfield and the Aviva Stadium, as well as top European clubs like Real Madrid, Borussia Monchengladbach and Chelsea FC - along with local league grounds, schools, colleges and universities.
The company undertakes more than 150 pitch renovations each year and has completed over 1,200 renovations since its inception in 1997. Their aim is to create the very best playing surface and to enhance the standards that can be expected from natural grass pitches.
