With the Spireites remaining in the midsts of their win-less run the pressure is on for the squad ahead of the FA Cup entry on Saturday - but the manager thinks that could be a good thing.
The FA Cup starter comes away at League 2 side Colchester United, and with the Spireites desperate to turn their form around Danny Wilson spoke about the weight of expectation.
He explained: "It's funny, people say you want to take the pressure off the players - but some players enjoy playing under pressure, I used to. I enjoyed the environment of pressure because it brings the best out of you at times.
"Although this isn't the bad pressure I'm talking about when it's all negativity, there is very much a positive about having to play under pressure and that's what I'd like the players to play under."
Ahead of the long trip down to Essex, the manager is also looking for an almost chemical reaction from his side in the first round against the U's.
"It does act as an adrenaline kick and I think the FA Cup is that in itself," he said. "It's a fantastic competition, it throws up so many unusual results and I'm sure the whole town of Colchester will be hoping their's is one of those.
"They might not think it is, I don't know. They were in our league last year so they know quite a bit about us but at the same time we understand that it's a bit of a banana skin for us.
"Having said that, if we perform as we have done in the last couple of weeks we held our own very well and if we can put in any kind of performance like that - but have that little bonus of having our shooting boots on - we'll have a great chance."
