Spireites Sad to Learn of Tom Brocklehurst's Death

Chesterfield Football Club have been saddened to learn this week of the passing away of Derbyshire County FA President Tom Brocklehurst.

Aged 101, Mr Brocklehurst was a well-known figure in local football - with his involvement stretching all the way back to the 1930s - having held a number of roles supporting the game and became the president of Derbyshire FA in 2000.

Mr Brocklehurst celebrated his 100th birthday at the Proact Stadium in 2015 (see video below) and was known for his involvement with Holymoorside FC as well as his work with the DCFA Council - among many others.

In 2005, Mr Brocklehurst's voluntary work was recognised with the presentation of the Torch Award by Princess Anne and Jimmy Hill.

The club wish to pass on its condolences and best wishes to Mr Brocklehurst's family.
