Tom Anderson says his Spireites side can grab all three points at Fleetwood Town this weekend if they replicate the performance they put in against Uwe Rosler’s men earlier this season.
The Cod Army left the Proact Stadium in October with all three points thanks to a solitary Conor McLaughin strike but Anderson is confident of a better result at Highbury Stadium this weekend.
“It was only four or five weeks ago we played them, we lost 1-0 but we had good chances,” he said. “We played well and we had chances to win the game. If we take those chances this time and play like we did, get around each other and play together we’ll get a result.
“They have got some good strikers, they’ve got Chris Long from Burnley who I know quite well but every team carries a threat, you’ve just got to be ready for everything that is thrown at you.”
The importance of the weekend’s fixture isn’t lost on the big Burnley defender ahead of what is a busy period for the club: “The games come thick and fast and you can’t dwell on past games and what has happened.”
“We’ve got to get ourselves ready for Saturday, Tuesday and Saturday and hopefully to pick up as many points as we can. Every game is crucial. You want to get points out of every game”
The Spirietes haven’t won a league game since late September but the 23-year-old is confident that run will end soon: “It happens, this is part and parcel of the job, teams go on winning runs and teams go on losing streaks but what you can't do is lose faith which we aren’t doing.”
“We’ve got a good bunch of lads and we keep working hard everyday. We’ll just keep going and we’ll turn it around. My sole focus at the minute is helping Chesterfield and working as hard as I can for Chesterfield to get climbing up the league.
“We’ve just got to keep doing what we are doing, keep working hard on the pitch and it’ll come.”
