After helping Grimsby Town to Wembley twice in his short stint with the Mariners, Jon Nolan is now primed and ready to show League One what he can do.The 24-year-old signed as a free agent for the Spireites earlier this week and the former Stocport County, Lincoln City and Wrexham midfielder says that the Spireites' interest helped him play to his best before making the move.
"It was an offer I just couldn't turn down," he said. "I'm delighted, the move coming off the back of a good season. I want to play as high as possible, every player does, and I'm excited to come to Chesterfield and get the chance in League One.
"I actually knew about the interest quite a while ago, but I think that if anything that helped me settle with Grimsby and play better football, knowing that there was a club for me if I could seal the deal with my performances."
With plenty of Mariners fans complimenting Nolan on social media following the move and wishing him well in League One, the Merseysider is now looking to similarly impress the Proact fanbase.
"I always had a good relationship with the Grimsby fans," he explained. "Hopefully it'll be able to get that again with Chesterfield.
"I like to play good football, getting the ball down to play, and it's in my game to get forwards too to help with the attack.
"If I had a weakness it would be with defending, I know that, but I'm sure Danny Wilson will be there to help me improve with that part of my game."
