Mick Beddingham Recognised for Outstanding Contribution
12 May 2016
Mick Beddingham was recognised for his decades of volunteering for the Spireites on Tuesday night as he was given the Outstanding Contribution Award.
Attending the Player of the Year Awards as a supporter, as he does every year, Mick didn't know his evening would be interrupted - with his years of service to the football club seeing him awarded with the honour.
Mick says he has raised in the region of £80,000 for the club and its academy through various activities, while these days he also helps academy manager Mark Smith on matchdays and throughout the week, again as a volunteer.
Mick shared his surprise after collecting his much-deserved award: "I didn't have a clue! I felt sick with nerves, my hands were shaking and everything. It's something I'm pleased about, I'm so happy and it's so nice to be acknowledged.
"It's made me feel on top of the world. I'm not one of these go-getters so I didn't know what to do when they said I had to walk all the way up to that stage. What an achievement, I'm so proud, I may even need to sit down!"
