Spireite Simons Turns Out for Bermuda

Chesterfield have their latest international player after Rai Simons played for Bermuda in their match with Dominican Republic last weekend.

Unfortunately for Simons - who came on as a substitute for Drewonde Bascombe in the second half - the Gombey Warriors fell to a 1-0 home defeat in the second round of the CFU Caribbean Cup.

The appearance is the 20-year-old's first for his country since this time last year, and while Simons had then agreed to join the Spireites prior to those games, last Saturday's match at Bermuda's National Sports Centre is the striker's first cap as a bona fide Spireite.

It was Simons' fifth cap for Bermuda, the striker visiting home for a break ahead of the first-team squad's return to pre-season training in North Derbyshire on July 4.

The striker has one international goal to his name to date, and will no doubt be looking to add to that and his five Spireites goals in the not-too-distant future.
