Chief executive Chris Turner admits that Chesterfield can have few complaints about the fixture list for the forthcoming season. The Spireites start the new campaign with a trip to Oxford United on Saturday, August 6. They then face home games against Swindon Town and Walsall.
Chesterfield travel to Rochdale on Boxing Day and then go to Port Vale on New Year's Eve. They finish the season with a derby game at Sheffield United.
Commenting on the fixtures, Turner said: "It's a little disappointing that we're away from home on Boxing Day and New Year's Eve, but overall we can't have too many complaints. Most of the long trips we have are on a Saturday, which makes it easier for our fans to travel.
"We're away against a newly-promoted side in Oxford United on the opening day and that will be a test for us, but we'll be well prepared for the challenge and I'm sure that the players can't wait to get started."
