New signing Reece Mitchell made his strongest pre-season impression yet in the 3-0 win at Ilkeston on Saturday, and the young winger is looking ahead for more to come.

The 20-year-old played over 70 minutes in his longest pre-season run-out to date at the New Manor Ground, exciting with his trickery and pace down the left flank.

Speaking after the game the former Chelsea man believes he's getting into his groove for the Spireites: "I was happy with my performance, it was a tough game against a good team but it's just about getting minutes at this stage of the season and getting some good fitness.

"I just try and make something happen, as soon as I get the ball I try to be positive. I got a few crosses in, it didn't go in the net for me today but hopefully throughout the season it will come."

A month into his time with the Spireites, Mitchell is already starting to link well with his new team-mates, and is looking forward to the EFL start now under two weeks away.

The winger commented: "I've worked with Dion (Donohue) quite a bit throughout the week, as well as out in Hungary and back here. We've got a good relationship, we work together well and understand each other, so that's promising for the season.

"I thought Ched (Evans) was good today, obviously he's hasn't played for a while, but he scored a goal, that's what he does, and hopefully he'll score many more.

"The performance is more important than the result at this stage, people playing more and discovering form and looking to take that into the first game against Oxford."
