There's just over a week until the Spireites get their League One campaign started at Oxford United, and Paul McGinn is getting ever-more settled with his new club.
The right-back felt he had has best game yet in the match against Derby County on Tuesday, as the Spireites pushed their Championship neighbours all the way before losing 2-1 in pre-season.
One of the highlights of the home performance was the strong play of the two full-backs, and McGinn says he and left-back Dan Jones are comfortable with the style: "The manager likes to play with attacking full-backs so that suits me down to the ground, that's obviously why they've taken me in here.
"I also like to defend, I'm pleased with how I defended. The system works perfectly for me and Dan with the types of players we are, Dion (Donohue) likes to go forward too, so it's good."
Ahead of the Scot down the right wing is Gboly Ariyibi, and McGinn is also striking up a good working relationship with the flying winger.
"It's great, and because he is so quick it means teams can't switch off," he said. "If Gboly doesn't go on one of his mazey runs it means I can overlap him, so they've got a lot of things to be wary of.
"We're good at getting back as well, Gboly probably doesn't get the credit he deserves for getting back in, it's only been a few weeks but I know I enjoy playing with him in front of him.
"Similar to the team, I think Derby was the best I've played so far, especially against a good competitive team.
"I've settled here, I'm soon to buy a house and I'll feel even more settled once I'm in there.
"It may have been a testimonial but before the game I think the two manager got to together and said that they wanted it to be competitive, we took it very seriously and it was a good game."
