Shane Nicholson makes a welcome return to the Proact Stadium on Tuesday night as Derby County are welcomed for his testimonial.
The 7:30pm kick-off sees two of the clubs 'Shinner' played for during a 21-year career go head-to-head in a pre-season friendly, with Nicholson pencilled in to join the fray in a second-half playing appearance.
Ritchie Humphreys has worked alongside the former Spireites player and fitness coach and is ready to welcome him back for his special night.
"He's been in football for a long time and he deserves this chance for the crowd to come and see him play," said Humphreys, now a player-coach with the Spireites.
"Once he pulls of his shirt and gets ready to play I'm sure he's going to relish that himself as well. I'm looking forward to seeing the crowd giving him his appreciation and for him, seeing him back on the football pitch again."
Having been treated to a testimonial himself during his playing days (not to mention having a road named after him
) Humphreys is well-aware of what a special evening is in store for Shinner.
"The night is about Shane and it's his testimonial. I've had a testimonial at Hartlepool and it was an amazing night for me and my family, Chris Morgan had one at Sheffield United and he says the same.
"It will be the same for Shane and his family."
