The Spireites need a 'keeper, and incoming goalkeeping coach Matt Duke is heading the party to ensure the Spireites sign the right man between the sticks.
A shoulder injury looks likely to keep Chesterfield number one Tommy Lee sidelined for the outset of the 2016/17 campaign, and with back-up 'keeper Aaron Chapman let go at the end of the last campaign, the Spireites need a reliable replacement.
After joining the club last week, Duke is immediately working to find the right 'keeper as pre-season gets going: "There are a lot of things going on, we have a few lads on trial at the moment and there's always names being touted around.
"We have a few weeks to take a look at some people and then we'll make the decisions once we've seen every player that we've wanted to see."
While the situation may not be the ideal one for Duke as he is introduced to the club, he feels its an opportunity that will help him develop as a coach.
"It is a little bit difficult," he said. "But it it is a challenge and it's something nice as I'm not coming into a situation where it's all in place. I can have my opinions on stuff and while it's a challenge it's something that I'm looking forward to sorting.
"It also adds to my experience which might come in helpful later on in my coaching career."
