Midfielder Ollie Banks has been released from his contract with Chesterfield in order to sign for Oldham Athletic.

The 23-year-old scored 13 goals in 99 appearances for the Spireites and moves to Boundary Park on a two-year contract.

After signing from non-league side FC United of Manchester in 2013, Banks was part of the Spireites side that won the Sky Bet League 2 title in 2013/14, scoring seven league goals during the campaign.

Banks also helped Chesterfield reach Wembley that season in the EFL Trophy, sustaining an unfortunate foot injury at the home of English football which kept him out for the remainder of the season.

The club thank Ollie for all his efforts with the Spireites and wish him all the best with the rest of his career.
