Spireites trio Gboly Ariyibi, Rai Simons and Mani Dieseruvwe made a surprise visit to Eckington Junior School last week, attending an assembly where they took part in a Q&A session.
The players answered questions from the pupils on a variety of topics including, even, their EA Sports FIFA ratings!
Head teacher at Eckington Junior School, Robin Bone, said: “It means a lot for the players to come down and speak to the children about what it takes to be a professional footballer. They see them on television, but it’s lovely that they’ve taken the time to come in and speak to them.
“They are the local team and we do have a lot of Chesterfield fans here. It was really good and everyone could see how enthusiastic the children were with how many questions they asked.”
The players caused quite a stir when they joined the children on the playground for a kick-about, before signing autographs for the enthusiastic youngsters.
Ariyibi said: “It was a good audience and they were really good kids. It was good to answer some questions for them. I wasn’t expecting the reaction we received, to be honest."
Simons added: “It’s always good to motivate young children and let them know if they dream big it can be achieved. It was great to see a lot of Chesterfield fans there and hopefully they enjoyed our visit.”
