A Jake Orrell double saw the Spireites' reserves beat Gateshead 2-0 in blustery conditions away in County Durham this afternoon.
The Ritchie Humphreys-lead reserves had to battle with difficult weather on a difficult pitch, with striker Orrell's two second half goals deciding the Final Third Development league game in the visitors' favour.
The Spireites line-up was comprised mainly of youth team players, with some younger first team squad pros also getting a chance for a run out.
After the match Humphreys praised the approach of his team: "The wind was strong and the pitch was tricky, very boggy in places, so I have nothing but positive things to say about the players and their attitudes.
"I was proud of the performance, and there were some really good performances in our team. Despite the conditions we did at times play some really good quality football and I think the result bears that out.
"The attitudes were spot-on, there was no hiding when that could have been the case, so a lot of credit goes out to the twelve players who showed themselves out there."
