With the Spireites facing up against Millwall this weekend we look at a player who has donned the blue of both Chesterfield and Millwall.
Kevin Davies spent time at clubs such as Blackburn Rovers, Bolton Wanderers and Preston North End during his career however it all started at Chesterfield for the former England international.
Davies was a key part of the Chesterfield side from 1993 until 1997. His spell at the club also included the club's famous FA Cup run which saw them reach the semi-finals in 1997.
Davies played as Chesterfield knocked out Bury, Scarborough, Bristol City, Bolton, Nottingham Forest and Wrexham on their way to the semi-finals.
Whilst Big Kev only scored 29 goals for Chesterfield it was his exploits in the Cup which saw him propelled to a Premier League club.
A hat-trick against future club Bolton during the third round was a catalyst for Davies’ eventual move to Southampton.
The Englishman began to show his prowess in the Premier League as he scored against the likes of Manchester United, Chelsea and Liverpool and after just one season Blackburn snapped him up for a huge £7.5 million sum.
However his time at Rovers wasn’t as successful as first imagined and he soon moved back to St Mary’s.
Davies' time at Millwall was a brief loan spell in 2002, however he did find the net three times in nine appearances for the London club.
Davies would then move to Bolton Wanderers where he spent ten seasons racking up 351 appearances and scoring 74 goals for the Trotters and twice played in European competition.
The forward ended his career with Preston North End in League One retiring it 2015 - his final appearance being in the play-off final success over Swindon Town, 20 seasons on from his third division play-off success over Bury with Chesterfield.
While many will remember Davies for his rough and aggressive style of play up top Spireites will recall him from his time at Saltergate as a very skilful player who helped the club to achieve their biggest ever Cup success.
Chesterfield was the starting block for a career which would see him play in the Premier League, UEFA Cup and even earn an England cap vs Montenegro in October 2010.
