Danny Wilson saluted his troops after they recorded a much-needed 3-1 win over Crewe Alexandra at the Proact on Saturday.
The result was built upon two early goals from Sylvan Ebanks-Blake and Lee Novak and after Zoumana Bakayogo pulled one back before the break home debutant Connor Dimaio drilled home a third to seal the points.
Manager Wilson reflected on the game, with the three points keeping the Spireites out of the Sky Bet League 1 bottom four.
"It was a fantastic three points," he said. "There's a lot of activity going on down at the bottom of the league and you've got to expect other teams to pick points up, so first and foremost you have to put your own house in order.
"I thought we did that very well today, you had two teams who both wanted to win the game. Crewe to their credit came at us but we got two goals in the first 12 minutes and that was a great platform for us.
"We wanted to start quickly, we've seen their recent games and they've conceded early so we thought we'd get chances if we got at them straight from the kick-off."
Wilson handed out a home debut to Dimaio after he also started in midweek at Colchester United and gave incoming loan signing Declan John a debut of his own.
The manager commented on the performance of the two young guns: "They got better as the game went on. I think they started off a bit shakily in the opening exchanges of the game but they settled down a bit, found a bit of space and time as the game went on.
"They both used the ball very cleverly at times, did their work in their defensive jobs as well. Overall I was quite pleased with both of them."
