Chesterfield suffered their first reserve loss of the season as they fell 2-0 to Hartlepool United at Inkersall Road.

With the wind bowing strongly and into the face of the Spireites in the first half the game took some time to settle, though when it did the hosts started to get on top.

Callum Greaves was busy down the right wing and Laurence Maguire went close when he met Derek Daly's corner, though his header flew over the bar.

At the other end Pools winger Kudus Oyenuga had a chance when he connected with a deep cross, but Spireites defender Brad Holmes was able to block the effort.

Pools man Dan Jones had an effort from 25 yards that got caught in the wind but drifted over, with both sides struggling to find their best form in tricky conditions ahead of the break.

Hartlepool quickly seized the initiative after the break when a freekick from the left eluded Spireites defenders but took a touch off Billy Paynter to divert into the net.

The impressive Dimaio threatened to equalise as he showed composure to find space on the edge of the area, though the Pools 'keeper was equal to his shot and saved.

The visitors took a two goal lead with little under ten minutes to go. Maguire charged down a shot but was penalised for a handball. Scott Fenwick calmly converting from 12 yards.

Davis Keillor-Dunne came close to pulling one back for the Spireites late on, his shot spilled by the 'keeper before being cleared, the closest the Spireites would come to a late register on the score board.
