Jordan Slew marked his first appearance in a Spireites shirt with four goals as the reserves beat a youthful Gateshead side 7-0 at the Proact on Tuesday afternoon.
Mani Dieseruvwe, Rai Simons and Laurence Maguire were also on target. Dan Jones made his comeback after injury as a substitute before being taken off as a precaution.
The visitors were behind after just six minutes when some goalkeeping hesitancy left Slew with just the Gateshead number one to beat, he shot low and saw his effort trickle in at the far post.
Simons and Dieseruvwe both had shots that hit the post before two goals in two minutes put the Spireites three goals up.
First Slew shuffled his feet in the box to finish with power from ten yards on 25 minutes, before moments later Dieseruvwe was played past the backline and he fired low and home through the keeper's legs.
Jones came on in place of Dan Gardner at half-time and Simons added a fourth goal soon after the re-start.
Dieseruvwe went close to scoring with a shot which came back off a post before Maguire (54) made it 5-0 with a header from Jones' corner.
After Liam Graham put a rising shot just over, there was a delay when Tom White received treatment after falling awkwardly following a challenge on Slew. He was subsequently taken off on a stretcher.
Jones then had a free-kick beaten away and Slew had a shot blocked before Slew completed his hat-trick midway through the second half with a close-range finish.
Jones was taken off as a precaution shortly after and in a rare Gateshead attack, Ollie Leedham put a free-kick over.
The Spireites continued to dominate with Niall Heaton putting an effort just over and Liam Graham slicing a shot wide from the right-hand side of the area.
Davis Keillor-Dunn, on as a substitute, made a good run into the area and had a shot saved.
Slew completed the scoring deep into stoppage time with his fourth of the afternoon, bursting into the area and producing a fine finish.
