O'Neil Released From Hospital Following Injury

Spireites defender Liam O'Neil was this morning released from hospital after suffering a worrying neck inury at Burton Albion last night.

The injury occured midway through the first half when the 22-year-old was struck in the face by a venomous shot following a Burton corner.

The former West Brom man received seven minutes of treatment from the medical staff of both teams on the pitch before leaving on a stretcher in a neck brace.

Quickly transfered to hospital for tests, a series of X-rays and CT scans determined that O'Neil was suffereing from concussion but nothing further and the player was released this morning.

Chesterfield FC would like to say thank you to the medical staff from Burton Albion and the other accompanying medics for their rapid and thorough action and wish Liam the best for a speedy recovery.
