The red card given to midfielder Gary Liddle at Colchester United has been upheld, after the Spireites this week appealled the decision.
Liddle was given a straight red card in the 17th minute of Tuesday's match at the Weston Homes Community Stadium for a tackle on Kane Vincent-Young.
While the Spireites battled to a 1-1 draw, manager Danny Wilson reviewed the incident after the match and the club decided to appeal the decision.
However, after the appeal was heard the referee's decision has been upheld and Liddle still faces a three-match suspension, which will start for tomorrow's home match with Crewe Alexandra.
Wilson expressed his frustration at the decision and with losing his captain: "I think we've been punished twice now and I'm very disappointed."
