A youthful reserve team went down to a 5-0 defeat at Hartlepool this afternoon. In a game played at Billingham Town, Angel Martinez continued on the comeback trail, playing for over an hour.
The side also included young professionals Ricky German, Curtis Morrison and Derek Daly, who have all featured in the first team this season. Otherwise, the line-up featured youth-team players.
After finding themselves 2-0 down at half time, the Spireites were unable to force their way back into the game and conceded three more goals.
Player/coach Ritchie Humphreys, who looks after the reserves, gave his post-match verdict. He said: "It's always disappointing to lose but we had a lot of young players and they will have learned a lot from the game.
"We had some good opportunities to score throughout the game. Some of the goals we conceded were as a result of our own mistakes.
"Curtis Morrison was always a threat on the break and he will feel as though he could have scored a couple of goals and perhaps even have been awarded a penalty.
"Another positive from the game was that Angel had more minutes on the pitch so that's progress for him after a long spell out injured."
Spireites: Parkin, Ofoegbu, Hand, Fowler, Lynam, Martinez, Rowley, Wakefield, Daly, Morrison, German.
