The Chesterfield youth team got their season off to the perfect start as they won 2-1 away at Hartlepool United in their first game of the campaign. The game certainly contained its challenges for the visiting Spireites, especially in the first half, where Ricky German missed an early penalty for Chesterfield before the Pools took a lead they would hold through the interval.
However, in the 54th minute the Spireites drew level through Joe Rowley after a long goal kick was laid back to the midfielder who made space for himself before firing a low show home.
Within minutes the Spireites scored again through George Clarey in what would turn out to be the match winner. With a ball cleared to the edge of the area, Clarey struck home a beautiful half volley into the top corner.
Chesterfield next travel to Mansfield Town this coming Saturday, with all results able to be viewed here.
